Expanding networks in the world’s biggest market

Since 2009 the International Tin Association (ITA) has worked to build up a team in Beijing to expand tin supply chain networks in China, the world’s largest producer and consumer of tin.

ITA China’s mission is to work with local stakeholders to support the tin market, expand tin use, and make positive contributions to sustainable development of the tin industry. Our team is connecting Chinese tin producers with their peers overseas by sharing industry insights, creating business opportunities for collaboration, and encouraging them to work together on industry challenges and issues.

ITA China communicates with various downstream users and research institutes to increase understanding of tin’s uses, improve cooperation between all stakeholders on supply chain topics, and accelerate technical innovation. Our Beijing office holds meetings and seminars for information exchange, seeking opportunities to address areas of strong potential for growth in tin use and identifying challenges.

The ‘Asia Tin Week’ conference attracts more than 300 delegates from China and the rest of the world. It was held in Hangzhou in 2011, Kunming in 2013, Shanghai in 2015, and then became an annual event. Asia Tin Week includes market presentations on all key and current issues, including sustainable supply, headwinds for demand growth, pricing, and new technology. With strong support from world-leading enterprises, the event provides a comprehensive forum for discussion and networking for members of the global tin industry.

ITA’s China office also organises the attendance of Chinese tin companies at various other international events and site tours to leading global tin producers.

There has been significant conversation between the China and rest of world tin industries through events, tours, and communication thanks to the efforts of ITA China. Chinese stakeholders are taking greater responsibility for the development of the global tin industry and are now playing leading roles.
