Approximate location of the Oortsog Ovoo deposit, owned by Mogul Ventures

Mogul Ventures Corporation is a Canadian company focused on the development and production of metals in Mongolia. The company’s tin project is the Oortsog Ovoo Deposit, located 300km south of Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia.

Oortsog Ovoo Deposit

The Oortsog Ovoo Deposit is within the Khar Tolgoi mining licence located in Dundgova Province, Mongolia. The nature of the deposit is a cassiterite-magnetite skarn system, with 24 discrete skarns founds within a 3 km by 3 km area, with a total 47 kt contained tin (with no cut-off grade; historic resource estimate).

Mineralisation is high grade at the deposit, with an average ore grade of 0.65% Sn. The project mineralisation is also shallow, with the known resource sitting at less than 100 m depth. This is based on a historic non-JORC compliant resource – based on a cut-off grade of 0.20% – but the company is working to produce an NI 43-101 compliant Resource; some drilling has not only confirmed historical data but has returned grades more than double what was previously recorded in twin drill holes.

Metallurgical test work, carried out between 2019-2022, has demonstrated the ability for the deposit to produce a >50% Sn concentrate using simple magnetic separation followed by gravity processing. A 63% Fe magnetite concentrate is also generated. Mogul has also engaged with the University of Alberta to conduct potentially ground-breaking research on tin floatation. The company continues to work towards further optimising grade of concentrate and tin recoveries.
