Two Australian-listed companies recently posted updates on projects in the south west UK. Wolf Minerals has awarded a construction contract for its Hemerdon tungsten and tin project in Devon, while New Age Exploration published a maiden JORC resource estimate for the Redmoor project in Cornwall.

Wolf has awarded a UK£ 75 miilion (A$111 million) fixed price contract for design, construction and commissioning of a 3 million tpy mineral processing plant to GR Engineering. Work will begin later this year, subject to the completion of final financing arrangements for the planned open pit operation which could produce 3,500tpy of wolframite tungsten concentrates with a grade of 65% WO3 and 450tpy of 40% tin concentrates.

The JORC resource announced by New Age is based on re-sampling and re-interpreting drilling results from the early 1980s following its acquisition of the project last October. The inferred resource is 9.1 million tonnes of ore at 0.21% tin and 0.16% W and also contains copper, lead and zinc. Tin equivalent grade is calculated from tin, tungsten and copper values at 0.69% Sn equivalent. New Age will now carry out a scoping study to identify a development plan and project economics. It will then consider its options, including “continued test work, securing strategic partnerships and/or divestment”.
