Minsur announced late yesterday that members of the Antauta community, located next to its San Rafael mine in Peru, have blocked the access road to the mine.

In a statement the company said that “to date, the company has not received any communication from the community regarding the claims that motivated this action. Even though the company has tried to communicate with the blockage leaders, it hasn’t been able to meet with them and therefore has been unable to establish a communication channel that could allow it to reach an agreement. Minsur’s management believes that operations at this mine could be affected should the blockage be prolonged. The company will keep the market informed as to any changes or updates regarding this situation.”

The San Rafael mine produced 19,511 tonnes of tin-in-concentrate in 2015 and Minsur has given production guidance of 20,000 – 21,000 tonnes for its Peruvian operations in 2016.
