Alphamin Resources has announced further encouraging exploration drilling results at its Bisie project in North Kivu province, Democratic Republic of Congo. The Canadian-listed company has engaged the MSA Group in South Africa to conduct a first resource estimate compliant with NI43-101 guidelines, plus a technical report and Preliminary Economic Assessment of the project, all of which are scheduled for completion in the current quarter.

The latest drilling programme is focussed on the Gecomines area which had been previously mined by artisanal miners, and is now 80% complete. Best results reported show grades between 3% and 8% tin. Mineralisation is believed to extend over some 4 kilometres along the Bisie ridge, and tin is associated with lead, zinc, silver and copper.

Alphamin said it is “highly confident of discovering new high grade tin and base metal mineralisation from systematic exploration along the ridge”. Bisie was the DRC’s largest producer of tin ore for a number of years and accounted for up to 75% of the country’s tin output up to 2010.
