Stellar Resources has announced the commencement of a new diamond drilling at the Heemskirk tin project near Zeehan in Tasmania. Two diamond drilling contractors have been engaged to complete a combined programme of 17 holes totalling 4,740 metres. One rig has commenced drilling at Heemskirk and the other at the adjacent St Dizier prospect. The overall objective is to improve project economics following on from a positive Pre-Feasibility Study which was published in July.

The drilling programme will run from now until October, with assay results due between June and November. The main objectives are to expand resources in the higher grade zones of the Queen Hill and Severn deposits (two of the Heemskirk orebodies which in total are estimated to contain 71,500 tonnes of tin) and add to the 13,800 tonnes of contained tin already identified at St Dizier. The latter deposit is seen as a potential low cost open pit operation. Some drilling will also be carried out at previously un-explored areas near both prospects.
