Kasbah Resources’ Achmmach tin project in Morocco is on track towards the completion of a pre-feasibility study on bulk underground mining of the deposit in the second quarter of next year. A full feasibility study should be completed in the first half of 2012, according to managing director Wayne Bramwell, speaking at the Africa Down Under mining conference in Perth today.

The mine is expected to produce 5,400 – 6,000 tpy of tin in concentrate over a phase one mine life of 6 years, based on the mining of 800,000 tpy of ore grading 0.9 – 1.0% tin. A drilling programme is currently continuing to firm up the underground resource towards a target of 10 million tonnes. As of August 2010 the inferred and indicated resource amounted to 7 Mt at 0.8% Sn. There may also be an opportunity for open pit mining of some shallow deposits.

The former managing director of Thaisarco, Mike Spratt, has recently joined the board of Kasbah as a non-executive director.
