Canadian listed, Alphamin Resources Corp. (TSX-V: AFM) has released an updated, JORC compliant mineral resource for the Mpama North deposit, part of its Bisie tin project in North Kivu, DRC. Indicated resources total 2.65 Mt at 4.49% Sn, equal to 119,240 tonnes of contained tin, and inferred resources total 1.2 Mt at 3.6% Sn for 42,800 tonnes of contained tin, with both figures using a 0.5% Sn cut-off.

95% of the Mpama North resource is accounted for by the main vein of three discreet vein systems. The resource has been defined to 450 m below the surface and high grade mineralisation is open at depth. The extension drilling yielded significant results, including 11 m at 13.40% Sn. The top 50m of the deposit is not included in the resource due to depletion by artisanal mining operations.

Recent drilling has also resulted in the discovery of a new region of tin mineralisation, named “the wedge”, with 20m of 4.31% Sn drilled. Alphamin is currently undertaking further drilling of the wedge, which is adjacent to the currently defined mineral resources at Bisie, with the aim of defining a measured mineral resource by June 2015.

Additionally, results of a drilling program at Mpama South show potential for high grade mineralisation similar to that identified at Mpama North, and the company is working to deliver a maiden mineral resource for the deposit in Q3 2015.
