The China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association (CNIA) and the International Tin Association (ITA) will sign an MoU to strengthen their collaboration in promoting sustainable development within the tin industry.

CNIA is a nationwide, industrial non-profit organisation in China and the most influential in the nonferrous metals sector, acting as a bridge between the government and nonferrous metals companies. ITA represents tin producers and has been supporting the tin industry in China since opening its China office in 2009. China accounts for nearly half of the world’s tin production and consumption.

On October 1st 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed by both parties in London, just before the 2024 China Nonferrous Metals Forum. The forum held during LME Week reviews the latest developments in and the outlook for China’s nonferrous metals market

The two organisations have committed to cooperating on several topics of growing strategic importance to the tin industry. The partnership will focus on tin recycling statistics to enhance the accuracy of secondary tin data. They will also regularly exchange information on green processing technologies aimed at reducing carbon emissions.

CNIA and ITA will support each other’s events to foster stronger connections and understanding between China and the global community regarding the tin supply chain. Additionally, they will share insights on global sustainable development.

Mr. Jia Mingxing, Vice President of CNIA, and Ms. Helen Prins, CEO of ITA, will present and sign the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.
