Sonia leads Sustainability programmes and initiatives at the International Tin Association (ITA) to demonstrate commitment to, and encourage, continuous improvement in sustainability of the global tin industry.
This includes key initiatives such as the global Tin Code for ESG and sustainability reporting, ITA’s responsible sourcing programmes, the Tin Life-Cycle Project and low carbon transition, and projects to support improvements in artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM). Sonia also oversees the Secretariat to the REACH Tin Metal Consortium.
Sonia actively represents the tin industry in high-level forums including the Multi-Stakeholder Steering Group (MSG) of the OECD Responsible Minerals Implementation Programme and previously served on the Governing Board of the European Partnership for Responsible Minerals (EPRM) representing the Supply Chain Actor Pillar.
Sonia graduated with a Master of Laws in Global Environment and Climate Change Law from the University of Edinburgh and holds a qualifying Law Degree from the University of Stirling, Scotland.
