Malaysia Smelting Corporation has appointed Chua Cheong Yong as Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer, and Mohamed Yakub Bin Ismail as the company’s Chief Operating Officer.

In a statement to the Bursa Malaysia Exchange MSC said that Mr Chua “will continue to helm the international tin smelting operations of the MSC Group of companies as well as the company’s African tin projects. In this context, he will continue to play a pivotal role in creating new strategic business relationships for the Group as well as expanding established major accounts. He is part of the business development team responsible for identifying viable resource projects and businesses for the Group.”

Encik Yakub has since 2006 been Senior General Manager of Rahman Hydraulic Mines, MSC’s wholly-owned subsidiary, and will now take on overall responsibility for mining operations in Malaysia, Indonesia and elsewhere.
