Unaudited tin-in-concentrate production at the Renison mine in Tasmania in January-August 2016 fell by 9.7% year-on-year to 3,941 tonnes, according to shareholder, L’sea Resources International. However, production in August was reported at 651 tonnes, up 48.2% compared to August 2015.

Production from Renison continues its recovery from the low levels reported in April (335 tonnes), May (372 tonnes), June (445 tonnes) and July (461 tonnes). The dip in production during Q2 was primarily a result of a changeover from contract mining to owner operation and so the August figure suggests a return to normality after this disruption. The strong year-on-year increase in production for August also reflects the reduced production in August 2015 when operations were temporarily affected by seismic activity.

ITRI View: L’sea Resources owns 41% of Bluestone Mines Tasmania indirectly via YT Parksong Australia, which has a 50:50 joint venture with Metals X. The Renison mine produced 6,816 tonnes of tin-in-concentrate in 2015. To surpass this total in 2016 monthly production of tin-in-concentrate must average at least 720 tonnes over the remaining four months of the year.
