On 21 April 2026, a delegation from PT Timah’s new leadership team visited ITA’s UK offices in St Albans.
PT TIMAH President Director Mr Restu Widyantoro, Production and Commercial Director Mr Ilhamsyah Mahendra, and Advisor to the director Mr. Erwin Chairuman, met with by ITA CEO Helen Prins, along with members of ITA’s Markets, Technology and Sustainability teams. PT Timah’s UK-based trading subsidiary, led by Director Rolan Rizki, was also in attendance.
Building on ITA’s visit to Indonesia last year, discussions covered a broad range of topics including global challenges facing the industry, the current situation on Bangka, and latest regulatory reforms in Indonesia.
As the world’s top exporter of refined tin, Indonesia plays a crucial role in shaping the global outlook for the metal. Given the reset of RKAB timelines heading into Q2, Indonesia’s regulatory landscape is back in focus, with only 150 tonnes traded on Indonesian exchanges so far in April. RKAB approvals are underway and exports should resume in the next couple of weeks.
Following the industry shake up seen in Indonesia over the past two years, PT Timah is well positioned to boost production in 2026. The company is targeting refined production of 29,085 tonnes in 2026, a strong improvement on last year’s 17,815 tonnes.
In the wake of the government crackdown on illegal tin mining launched last year, progress has been made. However, tackling the issue of informal mining remains a key priority. During the visit, PT Timah reaffirmed its commitment to the industry’s global ESG reporting standard, the Tin Code.
