ITA’s 2025 Review and the Road Ahead
Driven by the energy transition, digital technologies and ongoing geopolitical uncertainty, tin’s importance to global supply chains has become increasingly clear — alongside rising expectations around resilience, transparency and responsible production. Currently, tin prices are at record highs.
Against this backdrop, the International Tin Association (ITA) moved decisively from strategy to implementation during 2025 under its TIN2030 vision. The focus was on delivering practical platforms, convening trusted networks, and strengthening the industry’s credibility with policymakers, downstream users and investors.
A major milestone was the launch of Tin Desk, significantly expanding access to authoritative market data, analysis and trade insights. Flagship research published during the year included the Tin Industry Review, Tin Use Study, and a new Global Tin Resources map, alongside ongoing work to develop integrated cost modelling and future supply forecasting. This supported deeper engagement with governments, investors, and industry stakeholders, including strong participation in ITA’s Investing in Tin seminar, delivered in partnership with the Explorers & Developers Group.
In technology and innovation, ITA launched Tin Valley, a global hub for tin-related technology innovation, now connecting more than 250 researchers across priority areas including batteries, e-waste recovery, tinplate and low-carbon production.
Progress also accelerated on responsible sourcing and sustainability. Independently assessed Tin Code Reports were published for nearly all ITA members and participating Explorer & Developer members, measuring performance against 71 environmental, social and governance standards. Tin Code 7.3 Responsible Sourcing Assurance was further expanded, with several members completing their third consecutive year of independent assessment. Benchmarking against international frameworks strengthened alignment and credibility across key markets. ITA further strengthened its industry leadership by launching new engagement platforms to facilitate direct dialogue between upstream and downstream partners. The Responsible Tin Network serves as a vital bridge between upstream and downstream to develop action-oriented solutions to pressing supply chain challenges. We also launched the new Life Cycle Assessment working group to develop future carbon reduction strategies for the industry.
ITA continued to play a central convening role across the tin value chain, including Asia Tin Week 2025 in Hong Kong, which brought together more than 220 delegates from 18 countries.
Looking ahead to 2026, ITA will build on this momentum by strengthening the Tin Code, expanding market intelligence through Tin Desk, scaling Tin Valley, and continuing to convene the industry — including at the International Tin Conference 2026 in Seville.
